They may not be the most famous actors in the world, but they are arguably the best blogging actors out there. As a celebrity and spectacle-driven nation, we love the intimacy the internet gives us – with each other and with the people in the spotlight. Say what you will about how celebrity culture has warped American society, it is what it is and we are all there. At least there are some celebrities out there who show that they are real people, and they offer a spot on the internet where you can interact with them and they can interact with you – in more than 140 characters…
Here are the best celebrity blogs by celebrities, about celebrities (themselves) where you can get news about that celebrity, learn what they care about, and feel like you’re a part of something, well, more famous.
Alyssa Milano has really taken to social media. Her Twitter account has 1,768,892 followers and growing. Her official website, Alyssa.com, has news and information about the popular actress and baseball enthusiast, plus a blog. The blog on that site has some posts written by Alyssa herself, but her posterous has a more intimate, conversational feel. She hasn’t updated in two months, but that’s because she’s been getting ready to, and has just had a baby. I imagine she’ll get back to blogging once the baby starts sleeping through the night.

Allison Mack is best known for her role as Chloe on Smallville, the show about Superman. Her blog is beautiful, and she has sections for her thoughts, pictures of her life, video she records, and links to things she likes. It’s a nice website to visit.

Jenna Fischer, known as Pam Beesley to fans of the American The Office, has a blog that has been well-loved and often-visited since 2008. It’s on Myspace (what’s that?), so that’s quaint, and it hasn’t been updated in a month, but there are plenty of old posts for you to read about Jenna’s life, what it’s like to work in Hollywood, and a great perspective from a “regular” girl who made it big. The most recent post is about a kitten rescue. I love that Jenna wants to save the kittens.

Sure, it’s a Huffington Post blog, but the posts are so Alec Baldwin, you can almost hear them out loud in his meliflous voice as you read. He writes about everything from politics, to entertainment, to his own personal life and opinions about current events, and each and every post is a pleasure to read. Whether you’re a long-time Alec Baldwin fan, or you see him only as Jack Donaghy from 30 Rock, you will enjoy Baldwin’s writing voice as well as his take on matters.

You remember Wil Wheaton from Stand By Me, Star Trek: The Next Generation, and more, but he’s really come into his own as a blogger and social media maven. He frequently updates his blog, has lots of Twitter followers, and provided a photo of himself collating paper for the lovely Jenny Lawson’s The Bloggess. He’s been doing a stint on Eukea, and has a new thing called “Wil Wheaton’s Memories of the Future.” Check it out. He doesn’t dissapoint.

Kevin Smith is so much more than the sum of his parts. Actor, director, producer, writer, editor, personality, and all-around awesome guy, his blog is called “Silent Bob Speaks” and is about anything and everything Kevin Smith wants it to be. And you don’t argue with Kevin Smith. He’s mainly been talking about Red State recently. If you don’t know what that is, I suggest you see Kevin Smith’s blog. A note – if you’ve ever seen a Kevin Smith movie, you know he’s not afraid of profanity. Bad words. Cuss words. His blog is no different. So if you have a problem with that type of language, well, don’t read his blog.

Jeff Bridges mainly blogs in pictures. His website, a visual stunner (if not a little confusing) has links to his appearances, music (you do know, of course, that Jeff Bridges has a new album out, right?), his favorite philanthropic activity (ending hunger) and more. Spend some time and see why he is one of the most beloved actors in the business.
